Tuesday, March 24: Pre-Operation Visit

The pre-op visit today was filled with all the normal stuff: temp, blood draw, x-rays, EKG, etc. Claire walked through it all as if she was the star of her own TV show, which she is in some way (or at least the star of her own blog).

This is near the beginning, and the smiles kept on coming.

Miss Audrey, Claire's "Child Life Specialist," is talking through what will happen tomorrow by taking her through a story about a girl named Katy who also had a heart surgery.

Claire is checking the heart rate of the brown bear, who also showed Claire how her mask will fit on her face before the surgery (strawberry smelling, of course), and what the sticker on her chest will look like.

Before we went home, Claire and Matthew laid down on the wavy benches in the brand new tower at Children's and watched the butterflies and the shooting stars in the ceiling above us.
